About Me

Marco is a physicist by trade with an insatiable curiosity and a twisted proclivity for non-linear thinking and “MacGyver style” engineering!

Currently Sr. Researcher at the R&D unit of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, in Dubai, he is responsible for the R&D activity in Solar, Water and Additive Manufacturing.
While now mostly involved in R&D strategy and project selection and management, he enjoys to find non-conventional solutions to (mostly technological) problems and to realize prototypes that, occasionally, happen to work as intended!

Previously Assistant Professor in Material Science at Masdar Institute and more recently Full time researcher at the Italian CNR, his main fields of action are Metal 3D printing, based on an innovative concept, and the design and realization of concentrator photovoltaic systems.

He occasionally endeavors in the launch of variably successful start-up companies.

When he is not busy trying to respect some impossible project deadlines or tweaking his company project portfolio, teaching or working on his last idea, he enjoys running, hiking, skiing, cooking, eating (to counter the running!) and reading mindless fantasy books or the Economist.
